Kurt
"No Longer Lost"
Kurt went looking for his mom. He wandered out of the house and began walking down the street. After walking several blocks, he stood in the middle of the road not knowing where he was or how to get home. Asking directions back home was not an option for Kurt as his severe speech impairment prevented him from being able to communicate verbally. He could not be understood, even if someone asked for his name and telephone number. If it wasn’t for a family friend who found Kurt standing in the street, his mom is afraid to think what might have happened to him. Read More...

Veronica
“1 in 300 million”
Veronica is almost five-years-old. In some ways, she is like any other five-year-old. She has a caring mother and father, an older sister, and a dog that she adores. “Roni,” as her parents call her, will be making that landmark transition of going to school next year. It’s a transition that is often as difficult on the parents as it is on the child.

However, Veronica isn’t just any child. She is special. So special that doctors say she is about “1 in 300 million.” Veronica has an illness that currently is unknown. Doctor after doctor, specialist after specialist, and hospital after hospital have yet to give Veronica’s long list of symptoms a name. Read More...

Michael
“Hope For Hoops”
Michael is a seventeen-year-old young man who has been diagnosed with spastic diplegia. Though he requires a wheelchair for all his mobility needs, Michael is as independent as any of his peers.

Like most kids his age, he rapidly outgrows everything. In Michael’s case, that includes his wheelchair. Faced with purchasing a new wheelchair, Michael had no doubt in his mind what he wanted – an All-Court wheelchair specifically designed for withstanding the rigors and action of basketball. Christopher
“A Child Without A Voice”
Christopher is a typical fourteen-year-old boy. Just like many boys his age, Christopher loves to watch movies, hang out and talk to his friends. However, two years ago, Christopher was diagnosed with Brown-Vialetto-Van Laere Syndrome, an extremely rare form of pediatric ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Now, Christopher has no movement in his head, neck, arms, or legs. He is completely immobile except for movement in his right foot. He is hearing impaired and has lost all ability to speak. Christopher requires in-home nursing care sixteen hours a day, seven days a week as machines provide him with the assistance he needs to continue living. Read More...
