NOCK was established as a nonprofit organization in June 2003 by a
National Board of Directors committed to
fulfilling its mission of improving the quality of life for kids with chronic illnesses.
NOCK does NOT conduct research, sponsor studies, or engage in political lobbying.
Although research, studies and lobbying are important, NOCK holds to its mission of
helping families the most by addressing day-to-day issues that face chronically
ill children and their families.
NOCK only accepts referrals through either certified
assistive technology partners.
The approval process for recipients is thorough and
analyzed by several independent sources including NOCK's medical
advisory council.
NOCK generates no income from its services. We depend entirely on
contributions from foundations, corporations
and individuals.
NOCK is dedicated to helping as many children and families to the greatest
extent possible. Some assistive technology devices cost upwards of $25,000
for the most severe chronically ill. Based upon available funding,
NOCK is committed to providing the proper, doctor-prescribed device for
recipients who demonstrate a need no matter the cost.
