Assistive technology is any item, piece of equipment, or product system that is
used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals
with disabilities. NOCK specifically provides funding for assistive technology
that involves mobility and communication.
NOCK's Wheelchairs for Kids service enables children
who have been disabled by chronic illness to gain independence through mobility by
providing wheelchairs with individualized seating systems to children who cannot
afford them.
Expressions gives a child who cannot speak the
opportunity to communicate with friends, family and teachers by providing
augmentative and alternative communication devices to children who cannot afford
them.
